Q1  How much does it cost?
Check the 'Order' link on this page to find out the current price and what it includes

Q2  What do I need to run it?
Have a look at the 'Requirements' link on this page to see what you need and any other recommendations

Q3  When I am previewing an album cover it sometimes shows just a black box where the cover should be.
This is normally due to memory leaks in windows and means that you are out of memory. This shouldn't normally happen but the longer you go without rebooting, the more likely this is to occur. A reboot will sort out the problem. If the problem persists, you may need to upgrade your PC's physical memory.

Q4  If I leave my PC unattended with BeatBrowser running, it starts playing a song i didnt request!
You have got Random Play activated in the configuration menu. If you want to stop this, call up the Config menu and simply untick the 'Random Play Active' box.

Q5  When I leave the PC when BeatBrowser is running, when i return it is displaying a different album cover to when i left.
You have got the Random Album Preview activated. If you dont wish it to do this simply call up the configuration menu and untick the 'Random Preview Active' box.

Q6  When I run BeatBrowser for the first time its displaying a box and asking me to find my albums. What do I select?
BeatBrowser needs to know where your albums are stored on your computer and is asking you to find a folder that contains all your albums. Your albums MUST be in a container folder like 'MyMP3albums' for example. Failure to do this (like selecting the C: drive as a whole), although it should still work, may produced undesired results.

Q7  When I start BeatBrowser I see a message in the startup box that says 'Failed - CD Extraction disabled'. What is this error?
This message appears if BeatBrowser doesn't detect the Xing MP3 encoder installed on your PC. Without this, you cannot use the CD extraction screen. Please purchase and install this plugin from www.xingtech.com

Q8  BeatBrowser is telling me that I havent got any albums or tracks in the current location and is displaying no albums or tracks. What should I do?
The location you have chosen to load the albums into the jukebox from contains no mp3 tracks. Use the 'Browse For Folder' function key and choose a directory that has MP3 Albums in it.

Q9  BeatBrowser is telling me that there are orphan tracks in the current location. What does this mean?
An orphan track is a track that isnt in an album of its own. When you select the current location, Beatbrowser uses all the folders under that location as the album and loads them into the albums box and all the tracks get loaded into the tracks box.
If there are just tracks in the current location, BeatBrowser doesnt know what to use as the album and so gives this message. To get rid of this message, either delete the orphan tracks from the current location or create a new folder under the current location and move the tracks to it.

Q10  The fields on the top right slide on & off the screen much slower in windows 98/ME and XP than in windows 2000. What gives?
Due to limitations in the Windows 98/ME/XP operating systems timer controls, the speed the details scroll on/off the screen will be much slower than on Windows 2000. If you have a choice of which operating system to use, we recommend Windows 2000 anyway.

Q11  When i try and select a track it tells me 'Sorry, you have no credit available'. Why does it do this?
You have got Free Play turned off. Call up the configuration menu and untick the box that says 'Show Credits Remaining (Pay to Play)'

Q12  How do I get an album cover into the Jukebox?
You will need to scan the front cover the same as normal and save the image as a BMP or JPG file somewhere on your hard drive. You then need to position on the required album in the Jukebox and call up the maintenance screen and click on the 'Get New Cover' button. Find the image you saved earlier and click OK. Job done!

Q13  Sometimes when on random play mode it stops playing after a track and locks up. What is wrong?
The jukebox will try and play any file that has a file extension of .mp3. If you have a file under the main location that has .mp3 on the end of the filename but it ISNT really an mp3 file, beatbrowser cant play it and may lock up. If this happens, press the 'Windows' key (between the left Ctrl + Alt keys) and have a look at the name on the winamp task in the taskbar. This will be the file that needs to be removed.

Q14  Im using the SqrSoft Crossfader plugin and the current track time and time remaing stops before the end of the track.
The Crossfader plugin has to read the next track before it finishes the current track and also stores some of the current track in the buffer. While the plugin calculates the crossfade there may be a slight delay in updating the screen. This does not happen when you aren't using the crossfader plugin.

Q15  The jukebox recovered itself from a crash but the track that starts playing wasnt the one it crashed on. Why not?
This will be because the track playing at the time of the crash was a Random track chosen by the jukebox. Only tracks that have been manually selected will be restored whilst random ones will be discarded.

Q16  The jukebox crashed but it did not ask me if i wanted to recover when i ran it again.
If the jukebox is in random play mode when it crashes, there is no point recovering any random tracks that were playing. Recovery is only for saving manually selected tracks.

Q17  When i press 'Next' and i know i have other tracks in the queue, sometimes it doesnt do anything or when it does, it isnt the next track in the list. Whats wrong?
On very rare occasions it is possible that winamp can become corrupted. To solve this problem you need to go into Control Panel->Add Remove Programs then uninstall Winamp and re-install it. If you were using the crossfader plugin, don't forget to re-install that too and turn off the pop-up messages that appear in it. See Q18 on how to turn off the popup messages

Q18  Im using the crossfader plugin and every now and again i get a popup message appear. How do i get rid of it?
Launch Winamp, right click on the main window with the controls in until you get a menu. Go down to 'Options', then 'Preferences'. Under the 'Plug-ins - Output' section, click on the 'Sqrsoft® Advanced Crossfading' Plugin and click 'Configure', Click the 'Advanced' tab and tick the box that says 'Disable popup windows' then click 'Close'. If this tickbox isn't there, you havent got the latest version of the plugin which you can get here

Q19  Why can't I get into the CD extraction screen?
Please see Question 7 for an explanation.

Q20  BeatBrowser isnt doing what I expect it to do.
